Ever came across offensive remarks about others, or even those that are directed to you?

Given the technology today (and even more so after the birth of social media), it is not hard to see such defamatory remarks circulating around the Internet.

The source of it? Well it may just be a childish and impulsive moment-of-anger thing, or it may be more that it meets to the eye – (psst!!! watch out for your business competitor!).

So, with the cyber-bullies so harsh and aggressive, what should we do to protect our online reputation then?

Fret not, managing your online reputation may actually be just as simple as these 3 steps:

1) Manage your profile/ privacy settings well. (Please DO NOT divulge too much personal information online, like your mobile no. or even bank account no. etc…) You wouldn’t want to attract those malicious prying eyes do you?

2) Regular Monitoring - so that you can “fish out” those nasty remarks and have them settled before the whole world reads it.

3) “Crowding it out” (or ‘pushing’ that embarrassing party photo down the search ranks). Essence of it is to “BURY” all the ugly stuff down the search engine.

- (***hint***) Use your name to register your own website (ie. domain or blog) so that it comes out first on the list of the search engine results.

-(***Hint Hint***) Or simply Piggy-back off websites whose pages rank high in Google such as social networking sites (eg. Facebook, Twitter etc) You’ll just have to post comments or your basic profile on it)

Right, so we know how to protect our reputation online. Now, MAKE SURE that we aren’t the CYBER-BULLIES ourselves!!! =D

Remember, always practice good online etiquette by:

■Being responsible to what we write.
■Respect others and their privacy
■Do not post offensive, defamatory and untrue remarks about others
■ Don’t divulge too much personal information.
■THINK BEFORE YOU WRITE/TYPE!!!

My secret dream job.

Recently, I've been having a strong thought in my mind that I wanna be a well-acclaimed novelist. It just popped out in my mind out of nowhere and seriously, it has been stuck in my mind now for days.

Thus, I started to do more research on Harry Potter, and realised how complicated and perfect the storyline was laid and developed. I'd always seen it as a kiddy but enjoyable read, but now, I see it as an inspiration.

It is quite unexpected actually, since that wasn't even one of the options on my list of dream occupations that I had since young. But well, there's it. My new goal in life :)

Well, I know this dream seems far, but afterall, hadn't our elders and lecturers told us to DREAM BIG, and Live our dreams?

hahah I hope I'll be able to publish my own novel one day. Wish me luck!! =D

My Transformation

I was reflecting on past memories when I realised how much I've transformed.

I used to be the one always hiding at a corner; afraid of even raising my hand to ask questions in class....

I used to stutter whenever someone unfamiliar talks to me; even unable to maintain a mutual eye-contact with them...

However, ever since my family especially my sis encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and pursue my passion - performing on stage in front of an audience, I realised I found a NEW me.

Never would I have thought that I'll be able to sing and dance confidently in front of a large audience....needless to say even hosting performances and competitions.

I sometimes ask myself," Is this really who I am?", "Do I really like what I'm doing now?".

And I can now confidently answer "YES" =D

I feel an immense sense of satisfaction whenever I do well on stage; when my performances are well-received by the audience. I feel glad and appreciative when people like what my sis and I are doing. I feel encouraged whenever my family and friends go down to show their support for us during our performances. I feel lucky and loved whenever my TRUE friends (you know who you are) are there for me whenever I am down; even bearing with my random annoying nonsense/moodswings/tight schedule - (I feel especially guilty for causing inconveniences during project meet-ups since they are always accommadating to my schedule). I am really grateful to have these angels with me =D =D =D

Recently after a performance, a couple of little girls approached my sis and I and told us that they want to be like us when they grow up. When they held my hands and smiled at me, I wanted to cry...I was so touched that I was lost for words. ---(Ok this may sound dramatic like the recent Jack Neo controversy) But anyways, yeah that was what I really felt at that point of time.

Looking back at what I've done, meeting different kinds of people, experiencing many new experiences, I've really learnt much and grown up.

I feel blessed, loved and valued; and I really appreciate those who really care about me.

I love what I'm doing. I love the new me.

DI 11 - National Museum Field Trip

For the last lesson of DI, we went to the National museum. There, we viewed the intricate Renaissance- inspired architectural designs of the well-loved museum that dated back from Queen Victoria's regime.

There was the famous Dome, the Corinthian pillar as well as the newly renovated features such as the glass roof and the swinging chandeliers.

We've learnt about the museum's history, as well as the architectural design of the building in the past and the newly-renovated one in 2006.

Besides that, we also went for an exhibition called "The Bag" which features the paper bags used by companies such as Bata in the 1960s-1980s... cute to see how the bag designs had transformed till now :)

And last but not least, guess what!!! We got a bonus trip to the "Quest for Immortality" exhibition!!! Yes!!! It's the one featuring all the historic egyptian artefacts from the Pyramids!!! the one that I've always wanted to visit!!!

Can't wait to show yall the pics I've taken - there's a problem with blogger now...have to wait till tonight to be able to post somemore pictures :(

DI 10 - Reflections on DI

This week would be the last lesson for DI. Whilst preparing for my sketchbook submission, I was amazed at how much we've learnt/done/practiced during DI.

Be it illustrating a product mascot, designing ads/poster/T-shirt or even going for field trips, we've tried it all and learnt so much.

Never thought that I could draw; Now, I actually enjoy drawing/designing, and even sketching random designs every now and then just for fun.

Never even have the thought that I would be doing something related to Design; and now, I'm actually doing it!!!

Before I took on this module (Design and Illustration), I had this misconception that design was only for those who had an incredible talent in drawing. Me, on the other hand, will never be able to produce any decent design since I've never done well in Art and Craft class in primary and secondary school.

However, ever since I took the first step in trying it out, I came to realise that Design is not that "foreign" afterall. In our everyday life, from the posters to the advertisement we came across on the streets/train etc or even just the furniture we use, involves a design. And by choosing what we like, and what we don't, already involves our sense of aesthetic preferences and tells about our personal style and taste.

Design not only involves drawing, it also involves many other things like visual appeal, colour coordination and most importantly, bringing out the message we want to convey to our audience through our work.

Of course it helps if you had an inborn talent in drawing; However, it is not impossible for people like me who are not that talented in the area of aesthetic design to produce a decent design too.

I guess it takes practice. Although my design isn't that outstanding and nice as compared to others, I'm glad and contented that at the very least, I can confidently tell myself that I'm definitely improving.

Btw, just got back my marks for the Ad Design that I did for the Nanyang Optical Ad. Marks weren't that fantastic, but it exceeded what I've expected earlier. Ms Nga said that I was one of the students in class who have shown the most improvements, based on the earlier designs I did at the start of the Semester haha :) Well, at least I have improved right? heehee :P

Yeap, so that's about it. Will blog on my final post for DI after I return from the National Museum field trip by the end of this week (hopefully).

DI 9 - Threadless Tee Design

Ms Nga told us to submit a T-shirt design each for Threadless. Below is the checklist she gave us to check through before submitting.

Started with a brief to myself
Visualised the image
Contains my personal standpoint
Contains a personal style
Is clear in communicating the intended message/messages
Surprises audience

So, with that in mind, I drew many rough sketches of random designs. After soughting for advice from friends as well as Ms Nga (and got laughed at for my silly designs), I finally decided to settle on the "I have a Time-watch", you have a "Time-belt" one. (Although, I liked the "my belly" one too haha :))

DI 8 - Using Sketches to show concept

Alright...time to hand up my assignment again heehee....

Anyways, I've read this article called - as the title suggests - "Using Sketches to show concept".

To summarise the whole article:

It suggests people to use sketches to show the concept that they are trying to bring across.

Doing this saves hours of misdirected work + efficiently and quickly communicates an idea to members of the creative team.
A rough sketch not only brings your concept across to others, it also sends out messages that tells what kind of person you are and your attitude towards your work/concept.
It can show your thought/design process (how you came up with your idea/ final concept)
Impress/differentiate yourself from the rest by using the traditional way (ironic as it may sound) - in this era where you can easily plonk in a design/picture/idea downloaded somewhere from the internet, TRADITIONAL hand-drawn sketches that came originally from your brain is PRICELESS.
To emphasize the previous point again : UNIQUE AND PERSONAL solutions is key!!! =D
And last but not least, a well-documented design process = good grades in your degree.

2. As essential and useful it is for a skill in public speaking, rapid visualization also helps in getting your ideas across. Another similarity between the two - It can be developed with practice. (As what the old saying goes "Practice makes perfect" =D)

After reading this, I finally understand why ms nga made us do so much more work like showing our design development process... Although VERY reluctant and lazy, I'll try to do more of it then :)

Here are the resolutions I came up with after reading this article:

practice, Practice, PRACTICE!!! (FYI, I meant practice how to efficiently express my ideas and concept through my sketches)
Be confident in myself (as well as in my drawings/sketches/drawing abilities) - try not to show that I'm self-concious about sketching.
My sketchbook = my portfolio. Ensure that it is appropraite and impressive.
Keep experimenting through sketching (along with my usual brainstorming/research etc.)

PS: Here's a tip adapted from the same article: To draw a line that looks the straightest possible, make the beginning strong and ending strong and crisp, and let the middle of the line fade out a little. The eye and mind will conceptualize it to be straighter than anything else you can draw with a pencil. =D

Camellia tea oil

Just done a research on cooking oils for Advertising Project - we have to do a $100,000 campaign to promote PSC Topseller's Soyalite cooking oil.......

Anyway, came across an interesting website that states all information on the different types of cooking oils; was surprised to know that there is an oil called "Camellia Tea Oil" and that it is the healthiest type of oil (I've always thought it was grapeseed oil). haha

Also, went around school asking Secondary school students who are taking the O'levels to come for our Events Management and Promotions module CA - an event to promote our media and communications course along with Jia Qi (the "asiam fish") and Yin Qing (the "dumpling foot"). Couldn't understand why they seemed like they were a little scared of me...do I look that scary? I'm sure I was quite polite though...haha anyway got quite a good number of their contacts already...hope they'll come to our event :)

DI 7- SG Designers' Day Continued

hihi, this is part 2 of my trip to SG Designers' Day Exhibition!!!

After Qi, we went to another exhibition called Love and Money, 50 years of creative Britain. There, they exhibited many creative compositions by the British in areas such as the music industry, architectural designs, (and of course Harry Potter!!!) etc. I was quite surprised to see that we actually have many Britain-inspired designs incorporated in our buildings as well as designs. If I didn't remember wrongly, the architectural design of Ion Orchard was shown there as well.

Then, we went downstairs to view an interesting showcase revolving around the theme "Nature". But before that, were a few pieces of art that explored the play of arrangement of things that made up the overall design. Quite interesting. There was even a real cake (that made me hungry) that made people think of how many strawberries should be placed on the cake if you were to cut it into 8 pieces...(most ppl should think it to be 8? Whereas they challenged as to why each piece were to have a strawberry each :P)---I agree!!! My piece should have 10 on it heeheeheee!!!

After that, we went to a safari-like place that exhibited things related to nature like the endangered plants and animal species, videos/costumes/tools of the natives of the aboriginal cultures, as well as the different types of river water etc. Cool place. It reminded me of the Night Safari, only that it is more like a museum.

Then we finally ended the trip at the Supreme Courts to heal our hungry stomachs. Such a pity that we were not able to visit those exhibits at Suntec City... It was closed; I didn't know what was the reason though :(

Nevertheless, we have one last place to go!!! Ion Orchard!!! There, was a Belvedere vodka design competition and the finalist's artworks were there for the public to vote for the best design. There was a huge hidden Kaleidoscope in one of the pieces (which was not very eye catching as compared to the rest UNTIL you peek inside it!!)

The last exhibit we visited on that day was the showcase by the different well-known designers from all areas that won a Best Designer award over the years. One of the designers was the architect behind the Bishan community library. There was also a chair that was somewhat 3-D - its unique selling point is that the chair looks different from each angle. And it was true. there is no fixed shape from each angle.

All in all, this is an interesting and fufilling trip that broadened my insight into Arts. I never knew that there are such exhibitions in Singapore that you can get into contact with the design scene all over the world. I'll definitely visit the one for next year's Designers' Day.

DI 6 - SG Designer's Day

I went for a few exhibits in City Hall and Ion Orchard with my DI class a few weeks back. The exhibits featured the artworks of young aspiring artists as well as well-known designers in conjunction with the Singapore Designer's Day.

First, we went to the one at City Hall. The exhibits were held in the Supreme Courtrooms. The first room's theme was Taiwan design in pop culture. There, many young Taiwanese Designers majoring in the different areas were featured. Some were designers for popular entertainment programmes such as "Kang Xi Lai Le" , some designing the cover albums for singers such as Jolin Tsai and Jay Chou, while others were involved in abstract art, cartoon design etc. It gives us a closer look at what the young designers in Taiwan do, and also gives a a greater understanding of Taiwan's design culture and trends.

The next room was a pitch dark room, with beautifully painted drawings hanging around the wall. There was a reason for the room to be pitch dark - there were secret codes perforated on the drawings, and you'll have to shine a torchlight at it from a distance to decode it. There were also some 3-D sculpture that forms a sentence - you'll have to view it from afar to be able to see it. This room plays around with the element of perception/view. I think it's super cool. I was only able to make sense of the exhibits after "cheating" by reading the hints mounted next to the artworks :P

Then we went to another room. There, were Japanese originated artwork, as well as clay figurines each holding a small Ipod depicting cute graphic designs and not forgetting an impressive train model that has a camera in the front filming the train's route while its moving round the model!!! You can actually see the trees, animals and mountains all made from clay and recycled materials.

After that, we went to a bigger hall hosted by an organization called Qi.
There were all kinds of uniquely designed things made entirely from recycled materials. The bags sold there were made from numerous can cap, by the Brazilians. Smart! We should totally start to collect them too and make our own bags :) the were chairs and tables too, made from recycled metal. Then there were portraits and books sold, all featuring the beauty of nature in Antartica.
There was also an interesting book featuring all the products made from the body parts of the pig. I was shocked to realise that none of the parts of the pig cannot be used; the pig is used up to even its bone to make paper!!! poor pig...tsk tsk...

Anyway enjoyed it there especially my favorite rocking chair they have there. I wished I could bring that home but oh wells...

Hais...couldn't go to school today...sprained my knee while dancing yesterday...
Went to see the chinese doctor, and after a few grueling twisting and turning and poking of needles (omg!!!), the doctor announced that it was caused by my old injury of my backbone...

now my poor right knee is being bandaged like a fat mummy...and i can't even straighten my leg now!!!

The Doctor forbids me to walk about now...(but how? there's still school and presentations going on!!! and climbing of the hill everyday!!! argh)

Pray that my knee will recover asap... I'll have to dance for Sunday's performance!!!

DI 5 - On Strategy and On Target

I've recently read an interesting article about advertising on target and on strategy. Had to read it twice to understand what it was saying lol...anyway, according to the article, these 2 criteria are crucial to effective and successful advertising campaign.

So, what's on target and on strategy? It means that your ad campaign must have the appropriate language used so that it's in the correct tone of voice to your target audience. For eg, if you're targeting investors, your copy should sound intelligent and serious instead of informal. It ensures that your campaign can 'connect' with your right target audience (T.A).

The message you deliver should also be intrusive and interruptive in order to make an impact - the 'punch' factor so that it captures your T.A's attention. And needless to say, having your message sound natural and convincing (something closer to the T.A's real life) helps in building up the emotional connection between your product and the T.A. For example, adding a "slice of life" factor to your ad campaign.

A good example on featuring something 'closer' to their TA's life is the 2005 Dove "Campaign for Real Beauty". It featured women of various sizes (like their T.A - real women) instead of bone-thin supermodels. It made their TA feel like they are one of them and thus the emotional connection automatically sets in. I think it's really smart as it brings the campaign into a deeper sense of worth rather than the superficial feature of supermodels that we obviously know that it's "so not referring to us". It makes us (ordinary real life women) feel that we are being understood, valued and cherished; And that they actually go all the way in making the effort to know what we actually want.

Just that sincerity alone makes us happy and more willing to buy their products. Smart. =D

Had DI again. This week we had to present our ad to our group members. Got several constructive feedback like too many different fonts and the layout of my product. And after reviewing, I realised them too. Sometimes, it's true that we won't spot our own mistakes until other people point them out to us.

Reviewed other people's ads too. Some of it were so creative. Wouldn't have thought it myself. Gotten a little embarrassed comparing my ad to others' (mine looked like it's been designed by a pre-school kid :P haha). But anyway it's ok. I'm going to improve as I practice along! =D

Then we have a new mission again...this time it's much harder!!! We have to design a print ad for design professionals in order to advocate a "Safe Design" campaign with the tagline "Practice safe design, always use a concept". And ta-dah!!! What's my concept?...grrrr have to go crack my brains now. see ya next week =D

Anyway, had our third Design and Illustration lesson class yesterday. Ms Nga showed us some heartwarming "Hallmark" TVCs (that I think would have brought my mother to tears - she has a softspot on all these family/children bonding thing.

I think they were very powerful, as it etches an emotion in me, which makes me remember it even though I've watched it only once. Nowadays, all we have on TV are the creative (and sometimes nonsensical) ads that just brings out a laugh in us and then we'll quickly forget them/ or the messages they were trying to bring across to us(some I couldn't even decipher). It is hard to find classic ones like these that are timeless.

Anyway Ms Nga also showed us some unique print ads that brought across a simple message in each one. She also introduced something new to us (SHRED)- Science, Huh? (Yes! it is what it is!!!), Response, Emotion and Deconstruct the Ad. We also learnt this 4 important factors to plan for : Audience, Purpose, Message and Execution.

Then we had to design our own advertisement for our products, mine's the Energy booster "Nutty/Crit Crack" Peanut Butter bar of course :D Had fun playing around with ideas as well as Photoshop,Illustrator (if you believe :P)and Paint etc...
Due next lesson.

Lessons have been fun so far...I getting to like all these designing for ads stuff now... and photoshop doesn't seem as irritating as it was last year during Design Basics. No regrets choosing this elective. (Especially after hearing what the rest were doing in the other electives heeeheee :D)

DI lesson 2

Each of us got a tablet for drawing in Illustrator for the whole Semester!!! How cool is that!!! It functions just like a mouse, only that it can do even more such as adjusting the thickness of the strokes when drawing off the computer. And it is very sensitive - you need not even touch the tablet with the tip of the pen, it will automatically detect it when you place the pen near the tablet.

The only thing is that I'm still not used to using it, but it is definitely a better tool to use when drawing off the computer as compared to the mouse.

Aside from the tablet (which I am currently fascinated with), we had to design a mascot(squirrel) for our product (mine's peanut butter, along with Gina). Thus we started sketching it all over our sketch books to come up with a series of design development (show the development/improvement of my mascot). Then we had to choose the best one and draw it on illustrator.(mine turned out rather scary in the end though :P)

We had to "pitch" our product to the class too, for constructive feedback whether our product plan will work or not. It was quite interesting to listen to the other groups' ideas and some of it (like the dog's hotel) were quite cool.

yea...and that's about it...

We had to sign up for a field trip to one of the local design firms in Singapore for my Design and Illustration class recently. Since I've heard about "Yolk" (the design firm I chose), I signed up for it.

The place was at River Valley, which as usual, I had no idea where it was ( I've no sense of direction at all :P). Thus was glad that several of my classmates chose the same design firm as me. We decided to meet up first before heading to Yolk together. However, we still got lost eventually. After a few rounds of searching and asking around (as well as getting wet paint on my sleeve as I accidentally brushed against a newly painted pillar while finding our way there), we decided to take a cab instead.

The firm was totally different from the inside compared to the outside. I didn't expect to see such a nice and cosy place judging from the exterior of the buliding. Inside, the ambience was great, the colour were nicely coordinated, and the interior furnishings were sophisticated. It looked like a cafe (an artsy fartsy one of course) more then an office. I liked it alot.

Met our host for that day, Kelveen, one of the founders of Yolk. He had prepared a slideshow for us, with lots of their work. First, he asked us where and what course were we from. Then he asked why we chose Yolk( so I told him that I've heard about Yolk somewhere before (although I can't remember exactly where :P).
He continued to introduce more about what they usually do, their cliente profile, the basics of graphic design etc etc...they had also organised an international graphic design competition online. He also showed us a really cool website that they did, with a storyline and cool graphics which the story is to be continued by the other netizens.

After that, he brought around his office. It was two storeys high - the ground level was for the account servicing team. It had a super cool touchscreen table there, containing all their works they have done over the years, such as the animated Mv of one of the songs of local band Electrico. You can even play around with the different channels of sounds in the songs (eg. you can "take out" the guitars and vocals to just listen to the bass and piano etc.) They even design games out of it! I was really impressed.

Then, we went upstairs. It was a different kind of setting - the ground floor was classy and sophisticated. The second floor was creative, interesting and "artsy fartsy" (if there's such a word heehee :D)
Yes, it was the creative department. The work desks were messier (well, creative people tend to be a little messier =D)and the whole wall was written and drawn on with different coloured chalks. Professionally hand-drawn graphics were pasted all over the walls too. AND, the best thing is, the webcams that they were using were 3-D!!! They had to put on the 3-D glasses when using it. SO COOL RIGHT!!!

The next room was the directors' office, were the founders' work desks are. The room looked more like business office now, except that there was an ENORMOUS bunk bed with a workspace underneath. The displayed all their certificates and plagues on the "bed" which I doubt they would sleep on. (it's too dangerous, too high without any safety handle). And also a yard for them to smoke and discuss ideas.

Then, as we were still overwhelmed by fascination (not exaggerating; the technology they used were like so advanced, like things you can find from Doraemon's pocket!!! lol), Kelveen introduced us to Social Media, something new that the company is moving into. He emphasised that Social Media is a new area of media that is full of potential; an area which more and more companies are looking into. They also started a Freshlook "Beautiful Eyes" campaign for their client on Facebook. Thus, I feel that it is essential to be able to catch up with the latest trends involving social media such as Facebook, Twitter etc. since people who are moving into social media are on the rise. It can be a very powerful and effective tool to reach out to the masses.

All in all, I have learnt so much from the trip to Yolk. It had opened up my perspective of the industry and broaden up my knowledge. I've picked up many vital pointers to note which are all very relevant to the media industry; not only restricted to the graphic designing area. It was a memorable trip that I'm glad to have attended. I'm really impressed.

I'm sad...really really sad...Sending Tino away in 2 weeks time to my father's friend. Trying to find Lunar a loving new owner too.

Having difficulties breathing at night, thus the doctor warned me not to go near my dogs too often or else i'll get Asthma; Mummy too. And since we're shifting to a smaller house already (ie. no bedroom upstairs and no more balcony), it's even harder to keep my dear doggies at home. What's even worse, we can't keep medium breed Lunar legally and not to say keeping both.

hais...all that I can say is...it's hard to part with them after 2 years of love, fun, scoldings, chaos (that the 2 naughty boys always create) especially watching them grow up from a little young puppy.

I hope with all my heart that these two cute little dearies find an owner who will love and cherish them with all their hearts too...

Ps: I love you Lunar and Tino...I will try my best to earn money enough to buy a bungalow and bring both of you back to our home... I will.

I feel like a failure to have to give my 2 precious little babies away...

Been quite busy recently...loads of things to do...but nonetheless Happy!!!

Jie got in to Garage Battle 2 and I got into Show Quest!!! =D Have to start practicing my song now...
Jie and I have been busy chereographing for our "Nobody" performance too...

AND the BEST thing that happened this week is....I got a new dog!!! called Tino as Lunar's new brother!!! haha literally lunar's best fren!! (my pet's name in pet society)...he's 15 months old...a Tibetan Apso Parcel...sooo cute...will upload his photos soon... heeeheee he's such a darling...and of course my dear Lunar too :)

It has been a busy but fruitful week...went for rehearsals for the International Student Club's Freshmen Orientation 09/10. Reached school at 8.30 am on wed and thurs to rehearse and edit the script with Zheng Yan, then went home to rest for an hour or so and returned back to school again at 6pm all the way till 11pm (due to last minute changes, ZY and I had to re-edit the script again).

Then came the actual event on friday, which started at 8am... I started to get more nervous by the minute...especially during the arrival of the Principal and the distinguished guests. Nonetheless, everything went rather smoothly despite some plurks here and there...and yea, it was definitely a GREAT eye-opener and learning experience!!! so fun :)

then helped out for Sing Out Quarter Finals on sat...as I was filming the competition, I found a frog sitting on the fake pink flower floating on top of the pond staring right up at me for the whole entire event!!! OMG!!! It sure was scary...It gave me the creeps for the next few days even up till now...yikes!!!

Then I hosted the competition on Sunday with Collin...everything went smoothly and according to schedule...hosted in Mandarin and English...very fun too!!! ok...now I'm getting to love hosting more and more now :). then we went to the clubroom to do some filming for the comperes promotional video...It was super crowded inside...more than enough manpower thus we were super free...and we just sat there and watched Aaron and the rest film the video haha...then I left early to join Mummy and Jie for lunch.

so ya, school has started again...everything's fine so far except for this morning's "unusual incident"...haha mateys will know what I mean...

Heehee...yay I got my first choice for Gems!!! Psychology and Councelling class on Wed!!! and now shifu will officially be my "double" classmate (we can quarrel on her "fullstops" over msn during class le haha)...Hope that mimi, xiao mei and gina can be in the same class as us; that'll be great!!!

Anyway, had fun this week. Guitar lessons were fun...AND the best thing is I got my classical guitar!!! Jie got her acoustic guitar :) and so...we proceeded to learn 《不能说的秘密〉by Jay Chou!!! (ok the original key is too high for me to sing---male key---nonetheless the song's good
to learn for the 'strum' part)...learnt A minor, F, plucking and tuning the guitar too. I really need to start practising these more diligently alr...lagging behind now.

Stayed at Edward's Chalet that day. NSRCC. It's newly renovated and well-furnished. Very nice bungalow cornered by Glass doors with minimal walls...lots of facilities to enjoy to...What's best is the chalet is just next to the Changi Coast beach...it's great to stay near nature!!! Watched some DVDs there- the thriller movie by Johnny Depp was best....can't remember the title of the movie though :P haha then ate spagetti cooked by Giselle and Cheese omellette sandwich made by Jasmine the next morning...I must definitely go back there some day...maybe book the chalet to celebrate mummy's birthday :D

Currently committed to host for the International Student Club's freshman orientation event on the 17th...have to go for rehearsals too on the 15th and 16th...looking forward to it!!! :)
Will be going to the meeting for the SP Cultura show tomorrow...excited for the performance in June (tentatively) but a little stressed out too - we haven't settled the dance chereo for the song "Nobody" yet!!! hmm...have to get to work now...no more slacking...

haha finally decided to start blogging :) hmm...where shall I start?

Okie...been enjoying the holidays so far...went for a few rounds of shopping, movies, KTV and parties with some cool ppl :)
Haha gotten some blisters while shopping in heels (Mimi's great idea heehee :P) and experienced some thrilling moments like sneaking into a M18 thriller called 'My Bloody Valentine' with Little Diva :). Went to watch 'Push' with mummy and jie too...hmmm the 'pushers' are scary people...they have the ability to plant thoughts into people's minds in order to manipulate them. I wonder how the world will be like if these people with special abilities really exists...hmm scary :(

Recently found a cool place to chill...it's a cafe at chinatown...forgot the name...anyway it's along Food Street. They have live performances there with good food and a very cosy ambience...especially the room on the 3rd level...there's even a mini Aungklung set and Guitar for us to play!!! cool right? Jie, Afiq and Zupeng did a 'spur of the moment' performance too haha. Great fun...hmm shall go there again :)

Anyway, Jie and I performed at Singapore Khalsa Association some time back. It was great fun!!! Haha and I'm quite pleased with our performance that day. It was scary though, performing in front of 1100 people...Nevertheless, it was a great experience :) oh ya, and I earned my first pay too...$40 bucks yay!!! haha
Joined a singing competition too...hmm still waiting for results...
Oh ya and I went for Cultura auditions too with Jie...it's a show organised by SP Student Exchange Club to be held in May...haha Alan asked us to perform a Korean song called 'Nobody' by the Wondergirls. It's quite a catchy song i must say...a good song pick. Then we started learning the song...I fell in love with the song immediately haha. EXCEPT the rap part which I'm supposed to do...part of the rap is in Korean and it's so fast then I can't catch it...hais...shall try harder...and ya now we're cheorographing the dance for the song too...hopefully we can get everything settled asap :)

Joined a Sing and Strum guitar class recently...So far we've learnt the C,G and D chords...and now we're trying to sing and strum to Zhang Hui Mei's <原来你什么都不想要>. It's fun playing the guitar...minus the blisters on my fingers :( Realised that the Guitar is actually easier to learn than the Piano (yes,I gave that up for the 2nd time =[ ), Organ and Guzheng. Planning to buy a classical and an acoustic guitar soon so that we can practice at home. yay!!!

Did some comperes duty too for the enrolment period...learnt a lot from friends and seniors...good learning experience :) Comperes camp coming in 2 days time.

And with that, we've come to the end of my 'come-back' post!!! *Applause**Applause* haha now Shifu and Ah Ma the old couple who refused to give me my AngPao will not threaten to remove me from their links already :) Heehee :P

wow it's been a long time since i updated my bloggie...been very lazy nowadays... thou shalt update some other day haha...anyway watched Twilight today....omg i totally fell in love with it...as well as Robert Pattinson aka Edward Cullen haha :) the cast were great too...esp the male and female lead...Robert Pattinson was like totally vampire-looking la esp with his eyes...haha this film is definitely gonna make it big...an aspiring successor of the Harry Potter movies...
So my New Year's resolution for 2009 shall therefore be completing the Twilight novel series!!! All of them!!! haha

School reopens tomorrow, so I've decided to blog the many things that have happened in the past few days to commemorate the holidays...
First, we celebrated mummy's birthday at Jumbo restaurant with Granny....then we started shopping!!!! followed by a few sessions of karaoke sessions in Kbox and partyworld for the next few days......

Met Yinnie (I insist on calling her this way) and sammy at school for another session of karaoke and then dinner at foodcourt 4.(only 2 stalls were open) sammy complained that the chicken sux lol and yinnie and I complained that the ban mian sux lol.... the standard of the food dropped alot during the holidays lor...

Jie and I recently joined a singing competition hosted by City Harvest Church...called a shot to fame...had some vocal trainings, with the instructor teaching us how to warm up our voice as well as screening our voice and giving us comments. It was fun, with all the ice breaking games....and we've made quite alot of wonderful friends there...they are very friendly and supportive....no regrets joining the competition.....really gained alot in terms of friendship and experiences (and fun of course).....We also went for the grooming and social ettiquette workshop by Jill Lowe.....learnt that " If you carry a small bag, you'll go to Fullerton; If you carry a big bag, you can only go to Newton" lol Which means i can only go to Newton now since most of my bags are big lol...

Watched some movies with mummy and jie followed by endless shopping again lol....(we love shopping!!!)

then we had class chalet...it was quite fun...but i was quite surprised with the number of ppl who turned up for the first day...less than 10 ppl were there...nonetheless, we still had fun playing lame games and heart attack...on the second day we wanted to go to wild wild wet but.....HMMP.....it was closed on that day!!!!! haiyo....so we slept instead lol.... i was so sleepy that few days...at night we had BBQ...finally most of the class reunited...but little diva couldn't join us...to do her fav thing---EATING lol (hope she doesn't kill me after reading this :P)...there were some jokers who threw ice and water bags at us, attempting to cease our fire....nothing better to do......oh ya and the room was realli nice and spacious....just that the living room was quite dusty....i used like countless tissue paper lor.....until the skin around my nose were tearing....

and last but not least, we had the actual audition today....it was kinda scary but i think i did rather well for my very first competition...i'm quite proud of myself....well at least i did my best and stuck through the whole process instead of backing out at the last minute.......

ya i guess that's all....wow this is a super long post lol.......

sick sick sick

Hi again haha...just remembered that I actually have a blog lol.....

Been sick for the past few days....fever,flu and inflamation of my nose...haiz....and the flu virus is attacking my whole family!!! all of us are sick at the same time!!! and the tissue paper that we've used can accumulate up till five full bins (in one day)!!! lol.....and i'm not kidding.....the skin around my nose are already tearing...ouch.......

And our GP is now able to recognize our whole family le...haha...since we've been going for consultations so often...

Right, despite the headaches and the scary (sexy?) voices due to the flu, Jie and I decided to go for the basic dance exam on Saturday....We took the Reggae one.....hmm.....was quite happy with the results....it was better than what i had expected to get......Jie of course she did well.... yay :)

Right now, I just hope that the evil flu virus will go away!!! SHOO FLU DON'T BOTHER US!!!!
And yeap, that's about it.....and ya class chalet is up next.....

PS: Yinnie and Sammie.....congrats for being my first two readers!!! haha and for that, you've win yourself a hug from me... *hugs* lol (and the flu virus) lol jkjk!!!!
